Why do professional headshots help improve a business? Professional headshots can improve a

business in multiple ways. Mainly, headshots create trust with clients. Due to social media, and online mediums

taking over, many customers first impression is a company/brands online presence. Research

was conducted in 2012 by the Cognition And Emotion Journal that published a study stating

that humans make their decision to trust someone within 100 miliseconds of seeing their face.

(Forbes, 2021) So why not optimize the chances of a great first impression with clean,

professional headshots that are friendly, and represent the brand in a professional matter that

shows the company CARES. If a business has photos that are selfies, or taken from old family

photos cropped in, that subconsciously shows the client a lack in attention to detail, and a lack

of care. In a Forbes article from 2021 discussing the importance of headshots, Alex Jacobs, a

talent agent, states that when portfolios come across his desk, he states “Only the highest

quality shots have a chance at making it further.”

Another study conducted by Linkdin in 2023 demonstrating the importance of professional

headshots shows that profiles get 21 times the profile visit when they have a profile picture, and

professional headshots receive 14 times more profile visits compared to profiles with selfies.
